It also makes you far more likely to develop a range of health related problems. There are a number of ways to work out if your weight is putting your health at risk. Interpretation of BMI varies between people; depending on their ethnic origin, if they are going through puberty or are particularly muscular.

What your BMI means

BMI below 20 = Underweight

You are underweight for your height and your health could be at risk. You do not need to be on a weight loss programme. Talk to your doctor or health professional about how you can reach a normal weight

BMI 20 - 25 = Healthy weight

Well done, you are an ideal weight for your height.

BMI 25 - 30 = Overweight

Your weight is above the ideal range for your height and your health could be at risk.
